This vehicle is a very early Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé from 1955, delivered in the particularly attractive original colour combination of silvergrey metallic (DB 180) with blue chequered fabric seats and blue leather upholstery. The car features a range of sought-after optional extras, including retrofitted disc brakes on the front axle, a two-piece set of luggage, an additional set of seat cushions in blue leather, a Becker Europa radio with an automatic aerial, and an electric auxiliary fan. According to the Mercedes-Benz delivery note on file, the coupé was first delivered via Mercedes-Benz to San Francisco, USA, on 24 February 1955. The factory-fitted optional extras included instruments with English lettering, sealed-beam headlights, bumpers with horns, a windscreen washer system and 1kg of paint finish in DB 180 Nitro. According to the records of the 300 SL Register, the car was initially based in California for many years. In 1986, it was imported into Switzerland. Our company acquired the vehicle in 2012 from an Italian collector. Since then and for more than 14 years the coupé has remained in the same, careful collector’s hands.Between 2012 and 2013, an extensive partial restoration was carried out at our premises. Since then, the 300 SL has been driven only very carefully and has been regularly serviced by our workshop. Consequently, the car is now in an extremely well-maintained condition, both technically and visually, and impresses with its early specification and attractive original colour combination.
