Highlights: - elegant Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé in classic silver-grey with a brown leather interior - Factory-fitted with the rare Rudge center lock rims - "Matching Numbers" of frame, body, engine and rear axle - over €100,000 documented investment in the last six years - extensively restored by a 300 SL specialist in 1991 This very early 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé in silver-gray metallic, combined with a brown leather interior, matching two-piece luggage set, and matching numbers, was one of only approximately 360 coupés ordered ex works with sought-after Rudge center-lock wheels. According to the Mercedes-Benz delivery note with the number 54979, the initial delivery was made via Mercedes-Benz Distributors New York, USA, on March 13, 1955. The extensive and rare special equipment ex works included special upholstery in red leather 1080 with contrasting piping in cream 1060, a high-gloss paint finish in DB 608 Nitro, disc wheels with Rudge hubs, instruments with English lettering, Sealedbeam headlights, bumpers with horns, 1 set of suitcases, a windshield washer system, and 1 kg of paint. After many years of previous ownership in the USA, the SL was restored for an Australian customer in 1991, according to the available documentation. In 2008, the vehicle returned to the ownership of an American, who had extensive maintenance work carried out in the course of its successful participation in the Mille Miglia in 2016. Even after our company purchased it in 2018, further service work worth over EUR 55,000 was carried out. In addition to the aforementioned set of suitcases, the scope of delivery includes removable lap belts, on-board tools consisting of a jack, tool bag, and copper hammer, as well as an operating manual, a service booklet, and extensive documentation.
