According to the factory Mercedes-Benz built sheet, this exceptional 300 SL Coupé was delivered to Mercedes-Benz Distributions in New York, USA, on December 31, 1954. It is the 139th Coupé, which, as a special feature of the early vehicles, still bears a beautifully shaped concave star and spears that are screwed together with a piping band.
The color combination ordered, then as now, was in the special color light green metallic DB 274, in conjunction with an interior in gabardine green checkered L3, combined with textile leather green L3, as well as a green headliner. According to our records, a total of only 20 coupés were produced ex works in light green metallic DB 274; in combination with the green fabric interior and the green headlining, this is very probably a one-off.
A special paint finish in silk gloss, instruments with English lettering, sealed beam headlights, bumpers with horns and a windshield washer system were also ordered as additional special equipment. This was supplemented by a standard delivery of 1 kg of paint in the delivery color DB 274, as well as the addition of a light sea crate for transport by rail to Karlsruhe and then to the USA.
Based on records from the coupé Group Registry, three early owners from Los Angeles, Malibu and Glendale (all California, USA) could be traced
before the SL was imported to Germany in 1987, and has been owned by three collectors in Germany for the past 36 years.

Due to the unusual and very rare delivery configuration (only 6% of all coupés equipped with fabric were in green checkered), the car was purchased by our company in 2023 and has undergone extensive restoration in the last 12 months. The body was completely stripped of paint and reworked and then repainted in the delivery color light green metallic DB 274 silk gloss, the interior was renewed in gabardine green checkered L3, in combination with textile leather green L3, as well as a green headliner in our in-house saddlery, and the entire technology with engine, transmission, rear axle, fuel and cooling system, brakes and steering was overhauled. The restoration was accompanied in detail by photographs and is also documented with existing invoices amounting to around EUR
As an additional special feature, the coupé is fitted with rare central locking rims and a matching two-piece luggage set in green leather. The omission of the bumpers, which are still present and can be reinstalled at any time, further emphasize the sportiness and racing past of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. This 300 SL Coupé impresses with its fantastic and rare color combination, was extensively restored by our company and is an absolutely exceptional vehicle with matching numbers of chassis, engine, body, front and rear axle and gearbox.
