You could feel the fascination for classic cars as soon as you arrived. More than 20 customers showed up with their 300 SLs, so that almost a hundred 300 SLs were represented at the HK site. The highlight was the presentation of the famous first roadster prototype by Alberto Cefis, who had traveled from Italy with the car on wheels.
The day began with guided tours of the plant, during which the guests were given an insight into the workshops and the restoration process of the valuable classic cars. The HK-ENGINEERING employees proudly guided the guests through the halls and explained in detail the various work phases required to restore a classic car to its former glory.
Another highlight of the celebrations were the films and presentation of the history of HK- ENGINEERING and its founder Hans Kleissl.
With a lot of humor and personal anecdotes, he told how a small workshop became a world-renowned company.
The term PASSION - the unconditional passion and the will to implement something that no one has ever done before - certainly sums it up best. But this first requires a VISION that Hans Kleissl developed at a young age: when he acquired his first MB 300 SL as part of his existing love of classic cars, he was faced with a deplorable object in poor condition that had once been the ICON OF STARS.
And he simply couldn't find anyone who could restore this vehicle to its original condition. So he took it into his own hands! The start of HK-Engineering.
And the same inner drive led to the restoration of the KLOSTERGUT POLLING over 45 years ago, within whose venerable walls the company has since gradually created its unique home.
Polling thus became the first classic car stronghold according to the motto:
Classic vehicles belong in historic buildings - just as is practiced in many places today.
Hans Kleissl's vision was also trend-setting in that HK-ENGINEERIG was the first restoration business to be dedicated exclusively to one model.
The ambience of the 40th anniversary celebration was consistently appealing, with lovingly decorated areas that invited guests to linger and enjoy. The pleasant weather also contributed to the good mood of the guests, who clearly enjoyed the event.
At the end of the day, 80 classic cars took part in a drive through the picturesque landscape of Upper Bavaria. The participants drove in their gems through idyllic villages and past green meadows. A particular highlight of this drive were the cows that met the cars in the meadow and provided some amusing and unforgettable moments.
At the end of the celebration, everyone agreed that HK-ENGINEERING's 40th anniversary was a complete success. The mixture of impressive vehicles, informative guided tours, personal stories and very special music made the celebration an unforgettable experience. Hans Kleissl and his team proved once again that their passion for classic cars and their commitment to the highest quality are unbroken.
HK-ENGINEERING can look back proudly on its past 40 years and look to the future with confidence. The enthusiasm and positive feedback from the guests show that the company is on the right track to continue setting standards in the world of classic car restoration in the years to come.
